About Us

indiapolicyforum is an interactive space set up by the National Council of Applied Economic Research (www.ncaer.org). The aim is to promote India focused research-based policy analysis and commentary by leading scholars and opinion leaders located both in India and abroad. The aim is to discuss a wide range of both domestic and international issues including inflation, India’s saving and investment, food security and poverty estimates, growth prospects, G-20 agenda, global trade and growth, exchange rate policy of India and current account deficit.  The intended audience includes both academics and policymakers both in the public and private sector.  NCAER has been supported by the local office of the World Bank to develop this policy portal. We are grateful to Roberto Zagha and Giovanna Prennushi.

The chief editor of this moderated blog is the Director-General of NCAER, Mr. Suman Bery.

This site has drawn inspiration on the lines of www.voxeu.org and has benefitted from their inputs and suggestions, which are gratefully acknowledged.  The web address for the new site is also intended to link the discussion space with NCAER’s ongoing research activity with the Brookings Institution, the India Policy Forum (IPF)   to examine India’s reforms and economic transition using policy-relevant empirical research.  The objective of the India Policy Forum Journal is to generate theoretically rigorous, empirically informed research on important current and unfolding issues of Indian economic policy. A rotating panel of established local and overseas researchers interested in India has agreed to support this initiative through advice, personal participation, and contribution of papers. Overall guidance is provided by a distinguished international advisory panel.
